Fevers are a natural response in children when their body’s immune system is fighting off an illness. If their body temperature is 38 Celsius and above, your child can be considered to be running a fever.
While a fever itself isn’t usually serious, it can make your child uncomfortable. We can help you determine the cause of your child’s fever, recommend medications to reduce discomfort if needed, and advise on keeping them hydrated.
These infections, such as the common cold, can cause symptoms like a runny or stuffy nose, cough, and sore throat. This condition usually clears up on its own with plenty of rest and fluids. However, we still recommend seeking medical advice for your child to manage their symptoms and ensure they have what is needed to have a proper recovery.
Gastroenteritis, also known as the “stomach flu,” is an inflammation of the stomach and intestines caused by viruses, bacteria, or parasites. Symptoms are usually characterised by vomiting, diarrhoea, and fever, along with abdominal pain.
We can provide support when it comes to dehydration, and acute vomiting, as well as severe cases where admission may be required.
Asthma is a chronic lung condition that causes inflammation and narrowing of the airways. This can lead to wheezing, coughing, shortness of breath, and chest tightness, often triggered by allergens, colds, or exercise. If you notice your child frequently experiencing these symptoms, especially at night or early morning, they may have asthma.
Early diagnosis and treatment are important for managing asthma and allowing your child to stay active and healthy. We can develop a treatment plan that includes medications and lifestyle changes to help your child breathe easily and participate in their favourite activities.
Our lung function laboratory is equipped with various machines to assess different aspects of your child’s lung function. Here are the tests we provide:
